Rachael | Mentoring For Women In Bloke Heavy Workplaces
I'm Rachael!
Ā
Iām an ex-solider working as a mechanic (cars and heavy diesel). Iāve spent 20+ years trying to āfit in with the boysā in the Army, Oil & Gas, and Mining industries.
These are places where courage is a currency. Where speaking up gets you labelled difficult, dramatic, or "a problem." Where the boss hands you the toilet-cleaning and invoice-typing while the boys get the actual work.Ā
Ā (Yes. That happened to me. Within 6 months of my first apprenticeship.)
Ā I've cried in my car before shift more times than I can count. I've replayed conversations in my head for 3 hours after. I've stayed quiet in jobs I should've left. I've also said everything in my head ā and got kicked off two job sites for being too outspoken. Both versions of me cost me something.
Ā It took me well into my 30s to learn the middle path ā saying what needs to be said, without lighting the place on fire or shrinking into the corner.
Ā Now I'm in my 40s, with 20+ years of solid practice. And I teach women in male-dominated industries the exact tools I wish someone had handed me at 21. I've been there.
Ā I built my way out. Now I show other women (just like you!) how.
When you work with me at She Speaks Here, this isn't some one-size-fits-all coaching program. It's about YOU, what you're dealing with at work and what you want to change.
- We'll figure out what's holding you back. Whether it's people-pleasing, perfectionism, worrying about what others think or years of being conditioned to be the "good girl". We'll work through those patterns together.
- We'll work on YOUR real-life situations. That boss you struggle to speak up to, the workmate who makes you second-guess yourself or those conversations you keep putting off. We'll come up with practical ways to handle them, using words that actually sound like you.
- You'll have me in your corner. I've spent over 20 years working in bloke-heavy environments, and I know how challenging they can be. This is 1 on 1, so we can focus on what YOU need, and you'll have someone to talk things through with when shit gets hard.
- I want you to start backing yourself. To speak up without spending the rest of your shift replaying the conversation, set boundaries without feeling guilty and get the respect you've worked your arse off for.
We can also explore EFT tapping together if it's something you're open to. It's another tool that may help you manage the stress and emotions that come up when you're learning to speak up for yourself.
Sound like something you need?
Fill out the contact form below and let's have a chat. Tell me what's going on at work, what you're struggling with and what you'd love to change.
We'll see if we're a good fit to work together.
You've been in enough shitty confrontations to know how it goes.
And it's wearing you down. So you start picking your battles. Letting things slide. Keeping the peace⦠even when it feels like it's destroying your soul.
What we will work on together:
- A body-first method to stop the wobble before it starts
- Exact phrases to use when they push back or minimise you
- A way to manage the post-conversation spiral so you don'tĀ shut up next timeĀ
- A solid foundation you can lean on anytime a hard chatĀ lands in front of you
The She Said It Framework
The She Said It Framework flips everything you've been told about speaking up.
You've been told it's about confidence, finding the right words, growing thicker skin, or just... "being more assertive."
But speaking up in a male-dominated workplace isn't one skill. It's four. And the order matters.
EFT Tapping
Here's the thing most women don't realise:Ā This isn't always a confidence problem. Sometimes it's your nervous system kicking in.
So you go into one of three modes:
SHUT DOWN - You stop speaking. You nod. You swallow it.
OVER-EXPLAIN - You justify, soften, apologise until your point disappears.
BLOW UP - You snap. And you regret it for the next 6 months.
That's where EFT tapping comes in. It's a simple technique that can help calm your body's stress response, so you can stop reacting on autopilot and start responding with more control and confidence.
